In some cases a further anterior segment procedure becomes necessary after previous eye surgery. This particularly affects patients whose intraocular lens has become dislocated, decentered, subluxated or unstable.
Another common reason is intraocular lens exchange, for example due to opacification, intolerance of multifocal lenses (glare, halos, reduced contrast sensitivity) or inaccurate lens power.
Prof. Findl specialises in such re-operations and has performed more than 300 procedures (as of 2025). Thanks to his additional qualification as a vitreoretinal surgeon, complex situations can often be treated safely.
Depending on findings, different techniques are used, including scleral fixation of posterior chamber lenses — especially the Yamane technique — in which the lens is stabilised without sutures. Prof. Findl has performed more than 300 Yamane procedures and further developed the technique scientifically.
