Computer Learning Programs

A main field of interest of Prof. Findl is the development of computer learning programs. These learning tools are highly appreciated by medical students and are among the most frequently used electronic learning devices at medical universities. These cutting-edge learning projects have won several awards, such as the Austrian State Award for Multimedia.

 
Vienna Ophthalmic Case Studies
Interactive case simulation program for students and ophthalmologists on the internet (1996 - 1998). This project has won the Vienna University's award for "Innovations in teaching" in 2002.
 

Ophthalmic Operation Vienna
DVD with 3 D animations of the most common eye operations (2000 -2001)


 

This learning project has won the Austrian State Award for Multimedia and e-business in the category "Knowledge and e-learning" in September 2002. Additionally, the program has been nominated for the Europrix 2002, Europe's Best in Multimedia, in the category Learning and E-Education

  Teaching Activity

Prof. Findl is an active teacher at the Medical University of Vienna:

  • Students' training in ophthalmology and optometry
  • Lecture series on the causes of myopia
  • Supervisor of dissertations and diploma theses

Due to his dedication and love for teaching, Prof. Findl has been among the first university teachers to be awarded the "Teacher of The Month- Awards " by the Medical University of Vienna in 2005.

 

 

 

Eye Meets Public
During the Austrian Science Week Prof. Findl and his research team made a public presentation called "Grauer Star - alles klar". The Theseus-temple in the Viennese Volksgarten was the venue for this 3-day well visited event about cataract.

 

Children's University Vienna
During the popular event "Kinderuni Wien" (Children's University Vienna), held during the summer holidays, Prof. Findl lectured on the topic "Why do I need glasses?"
